Litter-Robot Liners, Filters and Trays: Running Costs by Model

Litter-Robot waste drawer liners cost $12 for 10, $25 for 25 or $35 for 50 at Whisker’s U.S. store as of 2026-11-02. That works out to $0.70–$1.20 per liner. Whisker’s liner FAQ says that for a single cat, emptying “once per week should be fine,” and for two average-sized cats “twice per week is typical.” That’s about $3–$5.20 a month for one cat and about $6–$10.40 for two, depending on pack size. Below are the supplies for every model in our comparison table, with the pack price, pack size and the date we checked. We give a monthly cost only where the maker states how long an item lasts.

Whisker: Litter-Robot 4, 5 and EVO

Waste drawer liners

Whisker says the liners are “Compatible with any Litter-Robot model.”

Whisker says to “replace the Waste Drawer Liner whenever you need to empty the waste drawer,” and that how often you empty it “depends on the number and size of your cats.” The emptying claims are:

• Litter-Robot 4: “as low as once every 8 days.”
• Litter-Robot 5: “up to 10 days” in a one-cat household.
• Litter-Robot EVO: “up to 7 days” for one cat.

At Whisker’s FAQ figures, liners cost about $3.03–$5.20 a month for one cat (about 4.3 liners) and $6.07–$10.40 for two cats (about 8.7 liners). The LR4, LR5 and EVO product pages give longer one-cat intervals (above), which would mean fewer liners.

Carbon filters

The carbon filters work with the Litter-Robot 4, Litter-Robot 5/Pro and EVO. Whisker says they’re “not compatible with Litter-Robot 3/Connect.”

The filter page says “replace carbon filter every month (recommended)” and “1 filter = 1 cat.” The monthly figures above follow that guidance. The Litter-Robot 4 page gives a different interval: it says Whisker recommends replacing the filter and OdorTrap packs “every 2-4 weeks,” and that frequency “is up to you.” At two weeks, the cost would double, to $10–$12 a month. Both pages say usage patterns matter.

OdorTrap packs (optional)

Whisker says to “replace pack every two weeks.” Whisker labels the 3-pack “3-pack = 1 cat”; the week counts assume one pack every two weeks. The 3-pack works out to about $10 every four weeks. Whisker sells OdorTrap packs as a separate odor add-on.

Whisker also shows Autoship prices (30% off the first order), for example $8.40 for the 10-bag liner pack. We list the regular prices because Autoship terms can change.

Neakasa M1 Plus and M1 Lite Plus

Neakasa says you usually need to empty the waste container “about 14 days for one cat.” Neakasa estimates one pack lasts “about 3–5 months for one cat,” which works out to about $4.00–$6.66 a month. Neakasa adds that “actual usage may vary.” The bag page also doesn’t list compatible models. We’ve matched it to the M1 Lite Plus by name only, so check with Neakasa before ordering for the Lite Plus. For the boxes themselves, see the Neakasa M1 page.

PETKIT Purobot Max 3

• Trash bags: PETKIT lists them for the “PUROBOT MAX 3, PURAMAX/2, PURAX.” The Max 3 page claims “up to 15 days” per bin “in a single-cat home,” but PETKIT doesn’t publish a monthly bag count, so a monthly bag cost isn’t published.
• N50: PETKIT says “each odor eliminator lasts up to one month.” That means it costs at least $6.66 a month, and more if you replace it sooner.

PetSafe ScoopFree Crystal Smart

The Crystal Smart is “designed for use with crystal litter only,” so the trays replace bagged litter. PetSafe says each tray “lasts up to 30 days” and to “change out the disposable tray just once a month.” That makes about $24.50 a month at the full stated life. With more cats, PetSafe says “your mileage may vary,” so trays may run out sooner.

PetSafe ScoopFree SmartSpin

Prices are from PetSafe’s U.S. store, checked 2026-11-03.

• Liners: PetSafe says they fit the “ScoopFree® Clumping and ScoopFree® SmartSpin™” boxes and are “not compatible with ScoopFree® Crystal” boxes. PetSafe doesn’t publish a monthly liner count, so a monthly liner cost isn’t published.
• Deodorizers: PetSafe says “each deodorizer lasts up to 15 days” and the 2-pack gives “up to one month” of odor control. That means at least $14.99 a month, and more if you replace them sooner.

The white SmartSpin bundle (ZAL00-18094) was $379.99, which was less than the $399.99 box alone. It includes:

• “2 Packs Waste Bin Liners (50 liners total)”
• “4 Essential oil deodorizers (2-Month Supply)”
• a mat

The black bundle (ZAL00-18161) was $449.99. PetSafe says the 6-liter drawer “holds up to 2 weeks of clumps and waste.”

Using these numbers

Bottom line

The predictable recurring costs are the ones makers attach a time to:

• Whisker carbon filters: $5–$6 a month per cat.
• PETKIT N50: at least $6.66 a month.
• PetSafe SmartSpin deodorizers: at least $14.99 a month.
• PetSafe crystal trays: about $24.50 a month.
• Whisker liners: about $3–$5.20 a month for one cat (Whisker FAQ: about one a week).
• Neakasa bags: about $4.00–$6.66 a month for one cat (Neakasa: a pack lasts about 3–5 months).

Liners and bags are cheap per piece, from about $0.30 to $1.20. At the makers’ own usage figures, Whisker liners run about $3–$5.20 a month for one cat and Neakasa bags about $4.00–$6.66; PETKIT and PetSafe give no bag- or liner-usage figure.
